At the Annual General Meeting of Edenville Energy plc (AIM:EDL) to be held later today, Jeff Malaihollo, Chairman of the Company, will make the following statement:
“2016 was a year of significant advancement for Edenville and the pace of development has accelerated during the first half of 2017.
“The coal wash plant is currently clearing Tanzanian customs and will shortly be on route to our Rukwa project site. With the new site access road nearing completion along with other recently purchased mining equipment arriving on site, we remain on track to start producing processed coal during Q3 2017.
“Substantial interest has been shown from prospective purchasers of our coal and we anticipate entering into formal commercial supply contracts when the plant is operational.
“Alongside the start up of the mine we have continued to advance the Power Project. The formal request at the end of May 2017 from the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of Tanzania for the Company to proceed with the development of its Rukwa Coal to Power Project was a significant step forward and demonstrated the Tanzanian Government’s wish to develop power in the region.
“Working alongside Sinohydro Corporation of China we continue in detailed discussions with The Tanzanian Electric Supply Company (“Tanesco”) to further define the size and structure of the project and any associated transmission infrastructure that will be needed to take the electricity.
“With the mine and wash plant commissioning imminent and significant progress being made towards defining the Power Project parameters we expect the coming months and years to be transformational for the Company.”
