Versarien plc (LON:VRS) Chief Executive Officer Neill Ricketts caught up with DirectorsTalk for an exclusive interview to discuss extending their reach into Europe and their plans going forward
Q1: You’ve just announced that you’ve extended the reach for your products into Europe, how important is that for the company?
A1: Well we’ve now got a product that we’re starting to see a lot of interest in Europe and what we need to do now is we need to get that into as many sales channels as possible. We’re dealing with some big blue-chip companies but you’ll have seen that we’ve appointed two distributors in Scandinavian countries and the reason for that is we’re seeing a lot of telecom-type activity and our products fit very well with that.
Q2: Is this going to be the last announcement with regards to distributors or do you have other areas in mind?
A2: No, definitely not the last announcement, we’ve got a constant interest from distributors in different parts of the world. When we came out and did our interims in December, we said that the next phase for this business was very much to get the copper foam onto the worldwide market and so we’re looking in the US with our Mouser distributor, we’ve got a couple of European distributors now and it’s a real push to see which is the next area. Our guys are working on getting parties that can work with the other distributors in order to cover as much as we can.
Q3: With that in mind, what do you think is next for the business?
A3: Well the guys aren’t very happy at the moment, they’re having to produce more and more parts which is great for the business and the next thing for us is really to get that production level up, get the efficiency higher and higher and to really be able to start to make good use of those distributors. We’re going to start to support those distributors where there’s need in terms of technical help or conferencing, in fact we’re looking forward to making an announcement in the near future about actually taking one of our other products into a completely different area via a conference.
