A test to diagnose coronavirus in just 20 minutes could be available in a few weeks after a major breakthrough.
In only four weeks and well ahead of schedule, Whittlesford-based Avacta has successfully created the technology used to detect the virus in less than half an hour.
Using just a respiratory sample, such as saliva, the test will give a visual read-out in minutes, in a way similar in appearance to a pregnancy test.
Avacta Group Plc (LON:AVCT) offers reagents and therapeutics based on Affimer technology for diagnostic and research applications in the United Kingdom. The company’s custom Affimer products are also used in drugs and biomarkers discovery in biotech research and development.
