Amino has been delivering solutions to operators for over 20 years, across a range of hardware and software platforms, with these solutions recently based on both Linux and Android firmware as the needs of our customers have evolved. After using Linux SDKs from various SoC providers and creating AminoOS, at the end of 2020 we decided we could better help our customers meet their needs by migrating our next generation Linux platform to RDK.
So why the change? The industry needs to simplify the integration of service add-ons like app store and OTT offerings. The Android market has shown the success which can come from standardisation and the cost savings we get from re-use, but of course Android with its restrictions is not right for every customer.
