Today, cashew is the second most important agricultural export, in terms of both volume and value, behind cocoa, of which Côte d’Ivoire is the world’s leading producer. The cashew industry contributes around 8-9 percent of Côte d’Ivoire’s GDP.
Today, the cashew industry in Côte d’Ivoire boasts over thirty processing units with a capacity of nearly 350,000 tonnes of raw cashew nuts. This has enabled the country to become the world’s leading producer.
