On Monday (19 December), negotiators at the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) held in Montreal, Canada, reached a landmark agreement for the protection of biodiversity.
The so-called Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework will commit the 196 members of the Convention, which includes the EU, to reach a 30% target of protected land and oceans by 2030.
