European markets higher

European stock markets were higher Tuesday after the long Easter weekend.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 index was up 0.6% in morning trade, with most sectors and major bourses trading in the green.

Mining stocks pared earlier gains of 3% but still led the pack with a 2.3% uptick. Autos followed with a 2% increase, while food and beverages led losses with a 0.7% downturn.
