We all prefer to keep our sanity – so how do we manage to keep calm and carry on during one of the most stressful events of our lives?
Moving house doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom – with a few planning tips and tricks, and a bit of preparation here and there, you can take back control and conquer your moving day!
Declutter your home
We all have a tendency to hold onto things we don’t need anymore, such as clothes you know you’re probably never going to wear again. Decluttering your home is a great way to start afresh and reduce the amount of packing you’ll have to do before your move.
Pack a survival box
Before you pack anything, pack the things you’re likely to need as soon as you move in such as mugs, tea bags and some toilet paper etc. Trust us when we tell you that it will make your move a lot smoother. To read what else you can put in your survival box click here.
Start packing early
Give yourself plenty of time and start packing up the items you don’t use on a day to day basis, two or three weeks before moving day. This will allow you to keep calm as you’ll have more time to focus on packing up the rest of your house before the removal men show up at your door.
Label your boxes
Label each box with the room it is going to be placed in to help you and your movers determine which box belongs where in your new home. If you’d like to be extra organised, ensure all the labels are written on the various sides of the box so you can read the labels easily without having to move any other boxes.
