Two North East firms have won Government backing for innovative projects that aim to bring health and environmental benefits to society.
County Durham firm Kromek has also won backing from Innovate UK for a project that aims to improve cancer surgery.
The three-year project will see Kromek working with Oxford technology company Adaptix and Manchester University on ways of producing better 3D images for doctors trying to differentiate between healthy and diseased tissue.
Kromek Group plc designs, develops and produces x-ray and gamma-ray imaging and radiation detection products for the medical, CBRNe security, Homeland Security and civil nuclear radiation detection markets.
