Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah reappointed Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah as prime minister on 24 January and tasked him with forming a new cabinet. The emir had earlier accepted the resignation of his government on 15 January.
