The Finnish institute for health and welfare (THL) has said it will change its recommendations on mask wearing this week. But Eeva Ruotsalainen, Deputy Chief Physician of the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), disagrees with plans to roll back Covid mitigation measures.
Last week THL’s Director of Health Security, Mika Salminen, said people should wear masks when travelling to or from a coronavirus test on public transport, or when shopping at a pharmacy when exposed to the virus.
“It’s going to be up to people’s own discretion whether or not to use masks depending on their own risk levels,” he explained last week.
