Today is the UN’s International Day of Peace and publication day for IMAGINE, the first picture book to be set to John Lennon’s iconic words, featuring striking illustrations by renowned artist Jean Jullien. The book is published by Frances Lincoln Children’s Books, an imprint of Quarto Group Inc (LON:QRT), with a foreword by Yoko Ono Lennon, in support of Amnesty International.
In Liverpool, birthplace of The Beatles, several events will celebrate the book’s publication day. In partnership with Waterstones Liverpool, St Alberts Catholic Primary School Choir and Queens Park CE/URC Primary School will be singing John Lennon’s IMAGINE at two of the public pianos in LiverpoolONE, supported by the local chapter of Amnesty International. The Beatles Story – the world’s largest exhibition of the Beatles – will also hold children’s events.
Launched in August, imaginepeacebook.com has been specially created by world-leading music digital design agency Creative Corporation to be child-accessible and has already received peace messages from 28 countries around the world, including personal messages from Yoko Ono, Richard Curtis, Juliet Stevenson, Cathy Newman, Lolita Chakrabarti, Laurence Anholt, Sita Brahmachari, Chris Riddell, Michael Morpurgo, and Malorie Blackman.
