Haydale Graphene Industries PLC (LON:HAYD) Chief Executive Officer Ray Gibbs caught up with DirectorsTalk for an exclusive interview to discuss their joint development and supply agreement with Dowton Electronic Materials
Q1: Now Ray, news out today about a joint development and supply agreement with Taiwan-based company Dowton Electronic Materials, what can you tell us about Dowton?
A1: Dowton are based in the south of Taiwan, they are a bullet train ride from Taipei and they are a quality quality outfit, they do a lot of metal and carbon-based inks aimed at the bio-medical sensor market and high end technologies. They’ve got a lot of key root capability, their capacity is around about 180 tonnes of ink per annum and for me, working with them for a little bit of a while now, they are absolutely first class in getting stuff done very quickly, very happy with them.
Q2: How did you come about choosing to work with them?
A2: We have an agent in Taiwan, as part of our agent network, and the agent recommended that we visit and see them and we stuck up a fantastic relationship, we started working on collaborative inks and the rest is history as we say. So that was how the introduction came about, we’ve been there now a number of times and they’re an impressive ‘can do’ and ‘get things done’ outfit.
Q3: What can you tell us about the potential for the sensors?
A3: Well, we’ve already said that Haydale Graphene Industries has been doing work on the biomedical sensors through Fraunhofer and our work with Innovate UK and this is just an extension of the screen printed sensor market in the Far East which is quite significant. You’ve heard recently of course of the massive increase in diabetes and one of the ways of checking diabetes is to use a biomedical sensor and that’s a very direct link into something which is very relevant only a couple of days ago.
