Reports emerged on 18 April that senior Saudi and Iranian officials – including Saudi intelligence chief Khalid bin Ali al-Humaidan – had held talks on 9 April in Baghdad, facilitated by Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi. Discussions allegedly focused on recent Houthi attacks on Saudi territory and ending Lebanon’s political deadlock.
