Up to 1,500 businesses globally were affected by a ransomware attack on 2 July after hackers compromised US technology software provider Kaseya. Russia-based cybercriminal group REvil claimed responsibility the next day and demanded a payment of USD 70 million in exchange for restoring data to affected businesses.
