Smart offices are fast climbing the list of potential winners in the ‘internet of things’. Plenty of businesses are pondering the benefits of an office building that will think for itself, but few have yet had the experience of occupying a truly smart office – a building that uses data and technology to optimise its management systems, and that is capable of learning in order to predict outcomes and take proactive, autonomous decisions.
Law firm Charles Russell Speechlys’ report, The New Real, shows that those working on all sides of the office property equation are excited about the potential of smart buildings. However, the survey of more than 270 senior property professionals highlights that there’s quite a way to go in actioning the opportunities, and there are some concerns that need to be addressed, particularly around exploiting and securing the data produced by smart building systems.
Golden Saint Technologies Ltd (LON:GST), through its subsidiary, EMS Wiring Systems Pte. Ltd, provides services in the “Smart Building” sector. Smart Building is a diverse term that refers to the technological capabilities of buildings and other work place facilities.
