Event
The government signed a peace deal with the rebel Sudanese Revolutionary Forces (SRF) coalition on 31 August, intended to end hostilities in the country’s disputed Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions. The deal offers rebel groups greater political representation, promotes the integration of rebel fighters into the state security forces and devolves powers, including economic and land rights, to the conflict-affected regions.
