The deadline for putting employees on furlough is this week

Wednesday, June 10 2020, is an important date for the furlough scheme.

There have been 8.7 million jobs furloughed by 1.1 million employers (more than a quarter of the British workforce) since the scheme was announced on March 20, 2020.

But, as most employers and employees are now aware, on 29 May 2020 the Chancellor announced that the furlough scheme is changing.

The scheme closes to new entrants from June 30, 2020 and will close for good on October 31 2020.
