The Helicopter Maintenance Trainer is a comprehensive and freestanding tool designed to provide students with hands-on experience in performing standard maintenance procedures on rotary wing aircraft. This trainer allows students to engage in a variety of practical training activities, such as functional testing, fault diagnosis, and removal and installation procedures.
The trainer features an airframe structure with a cockpit area that is easy to see, a gas turbine engine, and both main and tail rotor transmissions. Students can observe the rotor flight control system in operation, powered by a hydraulic supply that provides flight control through assisted servo actuators. Electrical supplies are also included, along with a generic glass cockpit featuring an electronic flight instrument display and replicated standby analog flight instruments.
Practical tasks are conducted using manuals, standard tools, and test equipment, offering students a realistic maintenance experience. An instructor operating station is included to provide control, monitor activities, and input faults as needed. Additionally, the trainer comes with ground support equipment and specialist tools.
This equipment was formerly known as the Basic Helicopter Maintenance Trainer (BHMT).
