Watkin Jones PLC (LON:WJG) has been crowned Company of the Year at Insider’s inaugural North Wales Business Leaders Awards 2017. The company, which is now the biggest Welsh business listed on AIM, was presented with the award in front of a packed audience at Venue Cymru in Llandudno last night (26 April 2017). The awards, compèred by broadcaster Chris Hollins, honour the achievements of companies, entrepreneurs and business professionals. The event was sponsored by Arthur J. Gallagher, Linenhall Chambers, UK Export Finance and Watkin Jones, in association with North Wales Economic Ambition Board, while Wrexham Glyndwr University sponsored the networking booklet.

Watkin Jones Group floated with a value of £255m. It’s now the biggest Welsh company on AIM, and the fourth biggest Welsh business on the stock exchange. Profits for 2016 rose to £53.8m from £44m the year before. “It’s a massive achievement for a North Wales business,” said one judge.
