UK stocks rise with gains in Life Insurance, Chemicals, and Tobacco sectors

UK stocks experienced a rise after the close on Monday, with gains in the Life Insurance/Assurance, Chemicals, and Tobacco sectors driving shares higher. By the end of trading in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 had increased by 0.62%.

Among the top performers on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Prudential PLC, which saw a significant rise of 7.33%, or 51.80 points, closing at 759.00. Frasers Group PLC also performed well, adding 3.85%, or 33.50 points, to end at 903.50. Burberry Group PLC enjoyed a 3.35% increase, or 33.00 points, finishing at 1,018.00 in late trade.

Conversely, Flutter Entertainment PLC was the worst performer of the session, falling by 3.09%, or 465.00 points, to close at 14,600.00. Berkeley Group Holdings PLC also saw a decline, dropping by 2.07%, or 98.00 points, to end at 4,632.00. Sage Group PLC was down by 1.34%, or 14.50 points, finishing at 1,066.50.

Overall, rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1,089 to 742, with 681 stocks remaining unchanged.

In the commodities market, Gold Futures for August delivery rose by 0.45%, or 10.50, to $2,341.70 a troy ounce. Crude oil for August delivery increased by 1.02%, or 0.82, to $81.55 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract went up by 0.89%, or 0.75, to trade at $85.08 a barrel.

In currency trading, GBP/USD remained unchanged at 0.30% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP was steady at 0.05% to 0.85. The US Dollar Index Futures decreased by 0.25%, ending at 105.18.
