Bron Afon, a social housing organisation in Torfaen, Wales, was founded in 2008 and is member-operated with the aim of improving the lives of disadvantaged and excluded people. They manage over 8,000 homes, including leasehold flats, shared ownership flats, and retirement housing. Their services range from construction and ethical contracting to community investment and support, supported by over 150 skilled trades staff.
In a recent development, Bron Afon created 30 wet rooms and an assisted bathing room within a domiciliary care setting, prioritising clean, hygienic, low-maintenance, durable, and aesthetically pleasing bathroom wall panels. They chose Multipanel bathroom wall panels, which met all these requirements. Since the installation, there have been no repairs needed, the panels have maintained their appearance and effectiveness in cleaning and minimising cross infection and contamination.
For this project, the chosen décors were Classic White Snow Hydrolock and Heritage Alabaster Oak Hydrolock, the latter selected to assist users with diminished vision by providing a significant light reflective variance between wet and dry areas. The installation of 31 bathrooms was completed in four weeks, saving two weeks compared to traditional tiling. Multipanel’s products are more durable, easier to clean, and more cost-effective, saving an estimated £30 per m2 and are particularly suitable for care homes needing specialist wall panels for wet rooms.
