Tom, a former janitor at a local superstore during the pandemic, found himself unemployed again after restrictions lifted. Despite studying Architecture at university for three years, he preferred practical work. Tom sought support from the Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone’s Youth Hub, where he received one-on-one employability assistance. He learned about the Kickstart programme and applied for two vacancies, ultimately choosing a Facilities Assistant role at the Youth Zone. Tom excelled during his six-month Kickstart position, demonstrating initiative and talent.
With financial backing from Accrol Group he secured a Facilities Assistant Apprenticeship. Currently, he’s completing his apprenticeship at the Youth Zone while studying at Preston College one day a week. Tom’s apprenticeship concludes this month, and he will continue as a Facilities Assistant at the Youth Zone.
“As long-standing gold patrons of the Youth Zone, we were pleased to extend our commitment by sponsoring Tom’s apprenticeship. We are delighted to hear about his success and progression throughout the course. Well done, Tom!” – Accrol Group
