FTSE 100 at 12-week high

The UK’s FTSE 100 surged on Thursday after the U.S. Federal Reserve signalled that its historic policy tightening run had reached its end, while all eyes are now on the Bank of England’s interest rate decision later in the day.

The blue-chip FTSE 100 (.FTSE) was up 2%, as of 0900 GMT, touching its highest level since Sept. 22, while the more domestically-focussed FTSE 250 mid-cap index (.FTMC) gained 3%, climbing to its highest level since July.

Miners of both industrial (.FTNMX551020) and precious (.FTNMX551030) metals rallied 4.4% and 7.3%, respectively, as most metal prices jumped.
