FTSE and European stocks climb

UK and European stocks bounced back as investors turned bullish on the latest EU inflation figures that showed price rises were unchanged in November at 2.4%.

The FTSE 100 (^FTSE) rose 0.1% 7,24 points in morning trading, while the CAC 40 (^FCHI) was flat at 7,564 points. In Germany, the DAX (^GDAXI) rose 0.2% to 16,683. Europe’s Stoxx 600 (^STOXX) climbed 0.2% to 16,683 points.

Across the pond, US stocks edged higher Monday, building on a seven-week climb even as Federal Reserve officials tried to rein in high expectations for interest rate cuts.
