Shri Kanubhai Desai, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Energy & Petrochemicals, recently installed a smart meter at his residence in Vapi as part of a broader initiative to promote the adoption of smart meters across the state. During the installation, the Minister highlighted that the installation is free of charge and provides consumers with accurate daily electricity consumption data via a mobile app, contributing to national development.
Addressing concerns that smart meters could lead to increased electricity bills, Shri Desai clarified that the technology ensures precise tracking of consumption, allowing users to manage their energy usage more effectively and save money. This reflects a broader effort to empower consumers with better tools for managing their electricity consumption and enhancing overall efficiency.
CyanConnode’s Omnimesh RF network plays a crucial role in this initiative, providing secure, reliable, and seamless connectivity for the smart meters. This network ensures that data transmission between meters and the central system is robust and dependable, supporting the long-term success of the project.
The rollout of smart meters in Gujarat has been made possible through the leadership of Shri Yogesh Choudhary, IAS, Managing Director of Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL). His direction, along with the efforts of the DGVCL officials, Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO) Managing Director Upendra Pande, Vapi Industries Association President Sh. Satish Patel, and the IntelliSmart Infrastructure team, has helped address consumer concerns and ensure smooth execution on the ground.
