Ilika has secured a £400,000 grant from the UK government’s Automotive Transformation Fund (ATF) to further enhance its Goliath solid-state battery (ESS) project. The grant aims to accelerate the development of the Goliath solid-state battery specifically for automotive applications.
The funds will be used to expand Goliath’s pilot production capabilities in collaboration with Mpac Group and the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC). Starting from October 1st, the 16-month partnership between Ilika, Mpac PLC, and UKBIC will involve the design, construction, and operation of a 1.5 megawatt-hour (MWh) ESS assembly line. The completion of this assembly line is expected in the first half of 2025. Once operational, it will have the capacity to produce large-format pouch cells for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and tier 1 suppliers.
Ilika plc (LON:IKA) is a pioneer in solid state battery technology enabling solutions for applications in Industrial IoT, MedTech, Electric Vehicles and Consumer Electronics.
