This afternoon’s event is being held at Facebook’s London office and will be packed with the UK’s best talent.
The big day is here, it’s the MCV Women in Games Awards 2018. The awards were created to reward and recognise the contribution of women in the UK games industry. And today’s central London event is the culmination of months of planning, nominating, shortlisting and judging.
This year’s event seems especially relevant after what has been a significant 12 months for the issue of gender equality – culminating in the recent release of the first gender pay gap figures. The underlying issues remain the same, but there seems to now be a greater social momentum to finding the answers.
That may have had some impact on our record-breaking number of nominations this year, from which 64 women made it onto the shortlists across 10 categories. Our judging panel of industry experts has had to make the tough choice of picking a single winner in each category, but everyone on the shortlist is highly deserving of praise.
