Tirupati Graphite appoints Anthony Nieuwenhuys as co-CEO

Tirupati Graphite, a London-listed specialist in graphite production, has taken a decisive step in its corporate transformation by appointing Anthony James Nieuwenhuys as executive director and co-CEO. This move signals a strategic transition of executive leadership, with Nieuwenhuys expected to assume full CEO responsibilities in due course.

The board has prioritised enhancing transparency and governance, initiating the transfer of critical systems and administrative controls to ensure comprehensive oversight by the board and senior executives. In tandem with this, Tirupati is in advanced discussions with a London-based candidate for the interim CFO role, an appointment that is expected shortly.

To strengthen its operational capabilities, the company has added three key appointments to its senior executive management team. Dr Uday Singh will oversee projects in Madagascar and Mozambique, Harshit Poddar will lead sales and marketing efforts, and Alastair Bath will manage special projects and corporate communications. Additionally, an India-based finance professional has been engaged to support ongoing audits and financial systems management.

Tirupati has also launched an advisory committee comprising industry and financial experts to provide strategic counsel. Members include notable figures such as Takis Efstathiou and Hemant Poddar, underscoring the company’s commitment to leveraging expert guidance as it navigates its next growth phase.

This latest wave of leadership and governance changes follows a December board restructuring, which was initiated after a shareholder-requisitioned extraordinary general meeting. The restructuring saw Michael Lynch-Bell appointed as non-executive chairperson, alongside new non-executive directors, including Nieuwenhuys, Murat Erden, and Christan St John-Dennis. These actions were in response to shareholder concerns over earlier resignations of key directors and a recognised need for enhanced board composition.

Tirupati’s renewed board structure paves the way for its next strategic goal: raising funds to accelerate the expansion of its graphite projects in Madagascar. With strong leadership and a clear roadmap, the company is positioned to capitalise on its growth opportunities in the graphite sector.
