Tributes to Pete Frates show the far reach of his ALS advocacy

Tributes to Pete Frates are continuing to flood in following his death last Monday after an eight-year battle with ALS, showing how the 34-year-old inspiration behind the “Ice Bucket Challenge” was able to touch countless lives with his advocacy efforts.

Heartfelt messages filled the Campbell Funeral Home web page for Frates on Wednesday, offering sweet remembrances and prayers for his family.

Frates’ legacy will be forever tied to the Ice Bucket Challenge, which he helped turn into a viral worldwide sensation in the summer of 2014. The social media video challenge, which involves dumping a bucket of ice water over a person’s head, continues to make the rounds today as a method of raising awareness and money for research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Oxford Biodynamics PLC (LON:OBD) was spun out from Oxford University in June 2007 with the aim of translating fundamental scientific advances into a commercialised platform technology and a new generation of biomarkers for cancer, ALS and other diseases.
