House prices in the UK grew 1.4 per cent in the 12 months to April, according to new data from HM Land Registry. On a monthly basis, prices rose by 0.7 per cent. This equates to an average property price of £228,903 throughout the country.
In England, prices rose 1.1 per cent annually, leaving the average property at £245,128. The biggest annual rise was in the East Midlands, at 2.9 per cent, whereas London was home to the worst-performing properties, seeing a fall of 1.2 per cent.
