Healthcare provider One Health Group has announced a robust financial performance for the first half of its financial year, covering the six months up to 30 September 2024. Based in Sheffield, One Health offers NHS patients free, independent access to treatment in orthopaedics, spine care, general surgery, and gynaecology. Revenue for the period reached £13.4 million, surpassing the previous year’s £11.1 million and marking an increase of more than 20%, which exceeded earlier predictions.
The group attributes this revenue boost to a 29% rise in new patient numbers, the onboarding of additional NHS surgeons, and an expansion in surgical capacity. Historically, One Health’s financial year has shown stronger performance in the second half, and this trend is expected to continue, with projections indicating an end-of-year outcome above current market expectations.
CEO Adam Binns highlighted the group’s recent growth, noting a substantial improvement in key performance metrics over last year. He pointed to the growing interest among NHS patients in using One Health’s services under the ‘Patient Choice’ option and the increase in NHS surgeons working with the group. Binns also acknowledged that recent government policy shifts have positively impacted One Health, as there is a greater focus on utilising independent providers to help reduce NHS waiting times. He remarked on the value of One Health’s business model, which offers high-quality, accessible surgical care at no cost to patients, and its growing role in easing NHS waiting lists.
During the first half of the financial year, One Health recorded considerable growth, treating 7,857 new patients compared to 6,091 in the previous year. It conducted 19,674 consultations and performed 3,427 surgical procedures across its network of nine independent hospitals, surpassing last year’s figures for each category.
In line with its strategic goals, the group has secured five-year contracts with its major NHS commissioners, who now contribute 70% of its revenue, marking a shift from the previous practice of annual contract renewals. Additionally, One Health continues to build relationships with more surgeons and hospitals to extend its reach. Plans are underway for a new surgical hub in an area with limited NHS and private healthcare options, where One Health already receives a high volume of patient referrals. This new hub is expected to substantially boost the group’s operational capacity.
One Health Group’s performance in H1 2025 demonstrates significant progress, with revenue and patient metrics climbing steadily. With new initiatives, strengthened partnerships, and strategic expansions, the company is positioned to maintain its growth trajectory, supporting the NHS and addressing patient demand in underserved areas.
