Pensana’s rare earth oxide refinery has been quoted as strategically important to the UK’s security and economy in the Critical Minerals Association paper entitled ”Midstream Processing and Refining: Unlocking Security of Supply”
“Pensana Plc aims to become an alternative source for European automotive and wind turbine OEMs and ultimately disrupt the current Chinese monopoly on rare earth supply. Pensana has commenced construction of a rare earth separation facility at the Saltend Chemicals Park in the Humber Freeport. It will be one of only three such facilities in the world outside of China – the other two being Lynas Corporation’s facility in Malaysia and the currently being developed in the US by MP Materials. This will enable miners from around the world to access the European market rather than ship to China. Initial feedstock is to be shipped to the Saltend plant as clean, high purity mixed rare earth double sulphate (MREDS) from the company’s Longonjo mine in Angola.”
Pensana plc (LON:PRE) explores and mines neodymium, praseodymium, and rare earth minerals. The Company’s flagship assets are the Saltend rare earth refinery project in the United Kingdom and Longonjo neodymium and praseodymium (NdPr) Project in Angola.
