CyanConnode, headquartered in Cambridge, UK, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first smart meter supplier in India to reach 2 million communication endpoints. The company has successfully implemented its technology across ten states, including Assam, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. One notable project is the deployment with Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO), which earned CyanConnode the SKOCH consulting group’s gold award in the power and energy category.
Executive Vice Chairman Ajoy Rajani expressed pride in these achievements, emphasising that the milestones reflect the team’s hard work and dedication. He highlighted that surpassing 2 million communication endpoints and receiving the SKOCH Award demonstrate CyanConnode’s leadership in the smart metering sector and its commitment to supporting India’s energy management efforts.
CyanConnode specialises in narrowband radio frequency (RF) smart mesh networks. The company’s growth to 2 million communication endpoints marks a doubling of their deployment from 1 million in July 2022, at which time they reported achieving over 99% service level agreements. In the TANGEDCO project, the company’s technology has delivered over 99% billing and smart metering communication rates, leading to faster invoicing, fewer errors, and improved customer satisfaction due to timely billing. The implementation has also been recognised for optimising operations, reducing carbon emissions, increasing revenue, and streamlining manpower.
India is in the midst of a nationwide smart meter rollout, targeting 250 million units, with nearly 13 million installed so far. Recent data indicates that the Indian government has sanctioned 222.5 million smart meters, of which 117.7 million have been awarded.
