CyanConnode secured its largest contract to date for the supply of 6.5 million communication modules in India’s smart metering sector. This new deal significantly boosts CyanConnode’s presence in the country, which is rolling out an ambitious nationwide smart metering initiative.
The contract involves the supply of Omnimesh Modules, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), standards-based hardware, and Omnimesh Head-End Software. It also includes a perpetual licence and a comprehensive support and maintenance package. CyanConnode will begin delivering the modules in the second half of FY25, with installation expected to be completed over a period of 27 months. After installation, the company will provide 93 months of support and maintenance. Financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.
John Cronin, the executive chairman of CyanConnode, expressed his excitement about the company’s largest order so far, adding that it nearly doubles the company’s order book for India, from 6.6 million to 13.1 million units. This contract strengthens CyanConnode’s role in India’s smart metering rollout. The deal was confirmed by a Letter of Award (LOA) from an unnamed global partner, with whom CyanConnode has successfully worked on past projects.
This announcement follows CyanConnode’s earlier achievement in August, where it reached the milestone of two million communication endpoints in India. The company has seen success across 10 Indian states, including Assam, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Notably, CyanConnode’s work with Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) earned the firm a gold award in the power and energy category from the SKOCH consulting group.
This contract marks a significant step forward for CyanConnode, cementing its place as a key player in India’s rapidly expanding smart metering industry.
