Enhanced Battery Technology (EBT) from DG Innovate is focused on the development of a family of hard carbon anode materials produced from sustainable bio-waste. The materials are primarily intended for use in sodium-ion batteries but can also be used in lithium-ion batteries. DG Innovate’s new anode materials are the products of a disruptive technology that makes possible storage batteries with performance equal to or better than current types but at lower cost and with greatly reduced environmental impact. The batteries are suitable for use in stationary applications, such as solar and wind energy capture, and are also set to challenge the dominance of lithium-ion in batteries for electric vehicles.
Hard carbon anode from biowaste
DG Innovate’s patented hard-carbon anode materials are produced from a readily available form of biowaste which at present goes to landfill. Key benefits of sodium-ion batteries using the materials are:
- No scarce materials are used in their manufacture,
- Manufacturing processes have low environmental impact,
DG Innovate plc (LON:DGI) is an advanced research and development company pioneering sustainable and environmentally considerate improvements to electric mobility and storage, using abundant materials and the best engineering and scientific practices. Deregallera is a subsidiary of DG Innovate.
