Preparatory works are forging ahead smoothly at rare earths mining company Pensana’s Longonjo project in Angola, with main construction expected to start in May and cold commissioning to follow in August 2025.
Longonjo is one of the world’s largest undeveloped rare earth mines, being one of only three with a Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant reserve greater than 100 000 t of neodymium and praseodymium.
On March 4, Pensana said an order had been placed with South African supplier of new and refurbished comminution equipment NCP International for the $2.3-million ball mill for delivery from Johannesburg to meet the construction and commissioning timelines for the concentrator plant.
Pensana plc (LON:PRE) explores and mines neodymium, praseodymium, and rare earth minerals. The Company’s flagship assets are the Saltend rare earth refinery project in the United Kingdom and Longonjo neodymium and praseodymium (NdPr) Project in Angola.
