London-listed Pensana has received a Gold Medal from EcoVadis, a leading sustainability ratings provider, placing it among the top 5% of companies assessed. Pensana highlights that EcoVadis ratings are extensively used by automotive and offshore wind original-equipment manufacturers to evaluate the environmental, social, and corporate governance credentials of potential suppliers. The ratings are derived from a comprehensive assessment of operations, focusing on environment, sustainability, procurement, labour, human rights, and ethics.
This accolade follows a 2022 rating by S&P Bond Rating Agency Cicero, which classified Pensana’s operations as Light Green with Good Governance. Pensana CEO Tim George notes that the company’s rare earth products are in high demand and the EcoVadis recognition underscores the exceptional sustainability standards that customers can depend on. He further mentions that Angola, home to Pensana’s Longonjo project, was a significant gainer in this year’s Fraser Institute annual survey on mining jurisdiction attractiveness, thanks to favourable fiscal terms and excellent infrastructure, both contributing to high sustainability levels.
George also expresses gratitude for the ongoing support from the Angolan Sovereign Wealth Fund, aiming to establish Angola as one of the world’s most sustainable suppliers of rare earths. Pensana commits to maintaining its operations under the EcoVadis tracking and reporting system, asserting that global sustainability leadership is vital to its long-term growth strategy.
