Switzerland-based Roche is stepping up to the crisis in Ukraine today with plans to donate 150,000 packages of Rocephin, an essential antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections, to the hard-pressed citizenry.
The pharma major — which has stayed purposefully mum about its support ops for staff in Ukraine — outlined plans to work with “external partners” on getting the antibiotics into the war-torn country, not an easy proposition as Russian troops maintain a steady barrage on Ukraine’s largest cities. And it plans to follow up with more contributions as it works to see what’s needed and how it can help.
