Silicon Labs is advancing India’s smart metering revolution with secure, efficient wireless chips like the EFR32FG23 and FG28 SoCs, designed for long-range, low-power data transmission. Their integration with machine learning capabilities optimises grid management. Key partnerships with utilities and infrastructure providers, including Cyanconnode and Wirepas, are crucial for delivering scalable smart metering solutions. Despite challenges like India’s diverse infrastructure and high deployment costs, Silicon Labs focuses on cost-effective solutions and collaborates with local manufacturers to address these issues.

Their smart metering initiatives align with the Indian government’s push for smart infrastructure and sustainable energy, supporting goals of precise energy monitoring and reducing wastage. Deployments of around one million smart meters in collaboration with Wirepas provide consumers with detailed energy usage insights, promoting responsible consumption and reducing energy bills.
