Intellectual Property (IP) is one of the most important components in an SME’s Research and Development (R&D) journey. Dr Gwion Williams, Operations Manager in the Welsh Government’s innovation team, discusses how his team of Innovation Specialists are helping businesses create tangible IP to help them stimulate innovation and growth.

Case study one: Deregallera

One Welsh business, based in Caerphilly, that has benefited from access to a detailed IP Audit, is Deregallera. The firm approached SMART to help them undertake what could be described as an IP landscape survey. It enabled them to ascertain what IP already existed in the commercial world and in what territories, and how their proposed IP would contend.
