The interpretation of the world’s energy future that Harrie Vredenburg will present to the thousands of officials at COP28 in Dubai doesn’t come with a fit-for-a-headline conclusion — something that came up several times in the editing room.
“There was a lot of time in the studio,” said the University of Calgary professor at the Haskayne School of Business.
Outside his academic roles, he sits on the board of Touchstone Exploration Inc., a Calgary-based international oil and natural gas exploration and production company, and represents the Thunderchild First Nation on the board of Prairie Thunder Resources Ltd., an oil company in which the First Nation holds an equity stake. Vredenburg was for seven years the founding board chairman of Calgary-based startup Teric Power, a battery energy storage company, which was recently acquired by a climate tech private equity fund.
