Union Jack Oil plc Wressle Planning Appeal Update

Union Jack Oil plc LON:UJO a UK-focused, onshore oil and gas exploration and production company, today announced an update in respect of a Planning Appeal, made by Egdon Resources plc, the Operator, against the decision of North Lincolnshire Council`s Planning Committee of 3 July 2013 to refuse planning consent for the second time for the development of the Wressle Oil Field at Lodge Farm, Wressle, North Lincolnshire.

Union Jack holds a 15% interest in PEDL180 and PEDL182 containing the Wressle discovery.

Notices advertising Egdon`s intent to appeal will be displayed in the local parishes and published in the Scunthorpe Telegraph over the coming week in accordance with planning law and an appeal will be submitted without delay shortly after the notice period ends.

Egdon will request the Planning Inspectorate to co-join this new appeal with the appeal against the refusal of planning of 11 January 2017. The first appeal is currently scheduled for early November 2017.

Egdon has also advised that it will separately appeal the decision of the 3 July 2017 meeting to refuse application PA/2017/268 which requested a twelve month extension to the existing planning for the site. Egdon is awaiting the decision notice from the North Lincolnshire Council in relation to this application but will issue notices and submit an appeal once this is received.

Executive Chairman of Union Jack, David Bramhill commented: “The Company fully supports the appeal process being applied by the Operator on behalf of itself and the partners in this significant project, which comprise Union Jack, Europa Oil and Gas Limited Celtique Energy Petroleum Limited and Upland Resources Ltd, who have an agreement pending completion with Europa to acquire an interest in the Wressle Oil Field.

Following a thorough and detailed consultation process, both applications were recommended for approval by the North Lincolnshire Council`s Head of Development Management and Building Control and supported by several key statutory and regulatory consultees.

In addition, the Environmental Permit for the proposed Wressle development has been issued by the Environmental Agency since the original decision in January of this year.

The first Planning Application submitted by Egdon met the information thresholds of both the Planning Officer and the Statutory Consultees.

The second application, which we believe addresses all the planning concerns raised by the Planning Committee in their initial refusal, post-dated the issue of the Environment Agency Permit and satisfied all the conditions of the Planning Officer and Statutory Consultees.”
