United Glass Group expands with premier acquisition

A glass manufacturing business in South West England has recently been acquired by United Glass Group (UGG), a company based in the West Midlands. The deal follows a £3m investment by Duke Capital, furthering its ongoing financial support of UGG. This latest investment will enable UGG to finalise the acquisition of Premier Double Glazed Units Limited (Premier), a firm known for its automated production of insulated glass units, including triple-glazed products.

The additional funding brings Duke Capital’s total investment in UGG to £15m. United Glass Group, based in Aldridge, has been a significant player in the UK glass processing market since the early 1980s. The group currently operates through three subsidiaries: Brownhills Glass Company Limited, Tufwell Glass Limited, and London Architectural Glass Limited.

Premier, established in Devon in 1996, caters to customers across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and architectural markets. The company specialises in producing both double-glazed and triple-glazed insulated glass units, offering high-quality products to meet market demands.

Neil Johnson, Duke Capital’s CEO, expressed satisfaction with the increased investment, noting the solid performance of UGG since their partnership began in 2018. He highlighted the acquisition as a positive step in UGG’s strategic growth and reaffirmed Duke’s commitment to supporting the group’s continued success.

Mark Harrison, CEO of UGG, expressed enthusiasm about acquiring Premier, describing it as a pivotal moment in the company’s growth. He emphasised that the move reinforces UGG’s leadership in the glass processing industry and aligns with its long-term strategy to expand its market presence and deliver high-value solutions across the sector.

The acquisition of Premier strengthens UGG’s position in the glass industry, marking a new phase in the company’s growth and enhancing its ability to meet the evolving needs of its diverse customer base.
