Valeura Energy boosts production with successful Manora drilling

Valeura Energy has wrapped up a highly successful infill drilling campaign at the Manora field in the Gulf of Thailand, boosting production and paving the way for future development. The company’s latest wells have not only increased output but have also identified multiple new drilling targets, reinforcing the longevity and profitability of this offshore asset.

The five-well programme included three production-focused development wells and two appraisal wells. As a result, Valeura’s working interest share of oil production at Manora has surged from 2,144 barrels per day in December 2024 to 2,866 barrels per day over the last two weeks. The appraisal drilling has also pinpointed between three and five additional drilling opportunities, which will be assessed for future development.

Among the key wells, A34 targeted deep 600-series sands in the eastern fault block and has been successfully completed as a multi-zone producer. The A38 well, designed as a horizontal producer in the shallower 300-series sands, incorporates an innovative inflow control device to optimise oil recovery while managing water production. The effectiveness of this technology is being closely monitored for wider application across Valeura’s portfolio.

The A36 well focused on multiple producing intervals in the field’s main fault block and is currently producing from its deepest targets, with shallower zones set to come online later. Meanwhile, the A35 well confirmed promising reserves within the 300-series sands, leading to the identification of three potential new development wells. Though A35 itself was not intended as a producer and has been plugged and abandoned, its findings are instrumental in shaping future drilling plans.

A37 served as both an appraisal and development well. It successfully encountered an appraisal target in the 500-series sands, which is now under review for future drilling, while its development target in the deeper 600-series sands has been completed as a producer.

With the Manora campaign now concluded, Valeura’s drilling rig has moved to Licence B5/27, where operations are underway on the Jasmine C wellhead platform. The company remains committed to an aggressive drilling programme in 2025, continuing its strategy of adding reserves and sustaining strong cash flow.

Valeura Energy Inc (TSX:VLE) is an upstream oil & gas company, with a clear strategy to add value for shareholders. The Company has a strong balance sheet positioning it for potential inorganic growth opportunities in the near/medium-term, and substantial longer-term upside potential through an operated deep, tight gas play.
