Although lithium-ion battery technology has made great strides over the last decade, a rising concern about these batteries is that the innovation surrounding them is starting to slow down. For instance, while the price of lithium-ion batteries has dropped ~73% throughout the last decade, it’s only fallen ~28% from 2017 to 2021. Perhaps more alarming, however, is that the price of lithium itself has nearly tripled since 2021!
