Quadrise (AIM:QED) announced the extension of its joint development agreement with Vertoro BV for the advancement of bioMSAR Zero, a sustainable marine fuel. This collaboration aims to develop a sustainable fuel solution specifically for luxury yachts, with an accelerated schedule for sea trials.
The extension follows a successful pilot scale trial that incorporated up to 40% of Vertoro’s crude sugar oil into the bioMSAR formulation. The next phase involves constructing a prototype motor yacht to serve as a testing platform for this innovative fuel.
Jason Miles, the chief executive of Quadrise, emphasised the importance of progressing towards zero emissions solutions while continuing to focus on current revenue-generating projects. He expressed satisfaction with the extended partnership, highlighting its potential to advance net-zero ambitions through collaboration with a leading yacht builder.
Michael Boot, Vertoro’s co-chief executive, echoed this enthusiasm, noting that the Focus Motor Yacht would act as a “living laboratory” and validation unit. This would help accelerate access to cost-effective marine biofuels for luxury yachts, serving as a showcase for the commercial shipping and yachting industry. Boot also hinted at more exciting developments in the coming year.
