Aston Martin launches the new Vanquish, its most powerful flagship yet

Aston Martin has reintroduced its iconic Vanquish, the most powerful car in the company’s 111-year history. This new Vanquish takes its place at the top of Aston Martin’s sports car lineup, showcasing unparalleled in-house engineering. The car is fitted with a V12 engine, delivering immense power, supported by a bespoke chassis and carbon fibre body. Inside, the car sets new standards of luxury, combining cutting-edge technology with refined craftsmanship. With fewer than 1000 units produced annually, this model will retain its exclusivity in the ultra-luxury market.

The Vanquish’s 5.2-litre Twin-Turbo V12 engine delivers an impressive 835PS and 1000Nm of torque, allowing it to reach a top speed of 214 mph, making it the fastest series-production Aston Martin to date. Achieving these performance figures required refinements in every aspect of the engine’s combustion process, ensuring both power and adherence to modern emissions standards. The car’s dynamics are enhanced by advanced powertrain and chassis systems, offering a blend of grand touring comfort and supercar precision.

Aston Martin’s Executive Chairman, Lawrence Stroll, expressed his pride in the new Vanquish, calling it the ultimate expression of the brand’s mission to produce powerful, beautiful, and exhilarating cars. The Vanquish is not only designed for speed and performance but also for long-distance comfort, offering a unique combination of luxury and power.

The Vanquish’s V12 engine marks the continuation of Aston Martin’s tradition of V12 flagships, offering the highest specific power output of any Aston Martin V12 engine. With hardware improvements, including stronger components and re-engineered turbochargers, this engine is the most responsive and powerful the company has ever produced. It features a new Boost Reserve function, providing additional power when needed, particularly useful for overtaking or dynamic driving situations. Advanced engine oil technology, provided by Valvoline, ensures optimal performance even under demanding conditions.

For the first time, the Vanquish pairs its V12 engine with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and an electronic rear limited slip differential. This system improves traction, stability, and agility, offering greater control in various driving scenarios, from low-speed cornering to high-speed lane changes. The new transmission calibration further enhances the car’s performance feel, with faster shift speeds and improved driver engagement.

The car’s body structure and chassis have been meticulously engineered to handle the immense power of the V12 engine. Built around a bonded aluminium frame, the Vanquish features a longer wheelbase and increased stiffness, improving both handling and comfort. The introduction of new Bilstein DTX dampers, along with larger anti-roll bars, further refines the car’s ride and handling, allowing for precise control in a range of driving modes, from relaxed GT cruising to aggressive sports driving.

The steering system in the Vanquish has also been fine-tuned to offer a more connected driving experience. The recalibrated Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system provides detailed feedback without overwhelming the driver, ensuring a balanced and confident feel behind the wheel. The car’s e-diff, integrated with the latest electronic stability control system, allows the Vanquish to adapt to various driving conditions, offering exceptional performance on both dry and wet roads.

Braking performance is enhanced by a Carbon Ceramic Brake system, standard on the Vanquish. This system not only improves stopping power but also reduces brake fade and unsprung weight, resulting in better handling and ride quality. The Vanquish also features a new ABS system, which integrates various dynamic controls to optimise braking performance, allowing for deeper braking into corners and better control during dynamic driving.

Designed for both performance and luxury, the Vanquish comes with 21-inch forged alloy wheels and bespoke Pirelli tyres. These tyres, developed specifically for the Vanquish, ensure optimal grip and performance in both summer and winter conditions. Aston Martin engineers worked closely with Pirelli to create tyres that balance the car’s supercar capabilities with its luxurious ride quality.

The exterior design of the Vanquish reflects its performance pedigree. With an extended wheelbase and amplified front-engine proportions, the car’s fluid lines and broad stance convey a sense of speed and power. The design draws inspiration from Aston Martin’s motorsport heritage, with features such as a sculpted bonnet and a distinctive Kamm Tail, which enhance both aerodynamics and aesthetics. The panoramic glass roof, a first for an Aston Martin V12, adds to the car’s dramatic presence, while the redesigned grille and Matrix LED headlights further modernise the car’s appearance.

Inside, the Vanquish offers a driver-focused environment, combining advanced technology with tactile luxury. The interior is designed for two, with a lowered centre console and a blend of high-quality materials that create a sense of space and refinement. A fully digital driver display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen provide clear information and control, while solid metal dials and switches offer a tactile connection to the car’s key functions.

The Vanquish also features Aston Martin’s next-generation infotainment system, developed in-house and integrated with a mobile app that allows drivers to interact with their car remotely. The system offers wireless Apple CarPlay, real-time navigation, and online connectivity, enhancing the overall driving experience. This connected car ecosystem is designed to evolve, offering updates and new features over time.

Driver comfort is a priority in the Vanquish, with sports seats as standard and a carbon fibre performance seat option for those seeking a more dynamic driving experience. The interior’s precision craftsmanship is evident in the new quilting patterns and attention to detail throughout. Aston Martin’s Q personalisation service allows customers to further customise their Vanquish, creating a truly unique vehicle.

Available in limited numbers, the new Vanquish is available to order now, with deliveries set to begin in late 2024. Aston Martin has once again set a new benchmark for supercar performance and luxury with this latest iteration of the iconic Vanquish.
