Surface Transforms enhances efficiency and compliance with Singlepoint

Surface Transforms, located in Liverpool, is the UK’s only producer of carbon-ceramic brakes for automotive use. The company specialises in developing and manufacturing carbon-ceramic materials, using their proprietary CCST material to create lightweight brake discs for high-performance vehicles. These brakes are utilised in both automotive and aircraft applications, showcasing the company’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities, including in-house production of brake discs.

Prior to implementing a new system, Surface Transforms faced inefficiencies in managing their Quality and Health and Safety processes. The manual management of these processes led to significant challenges, especially in document control. Key documents were stored across multiple shared drives, which resulted in unauthorised access and edits, compromising control over vital information.

When Singlepoint was introduced to the company, it immediately impressed Surface Transforms with its robust document control features. The system’s range of modules for Health and Safety, Training Management, and Quality Management provided a comprehensive solution. One of the standout features was Visual Navigator, which simplified the user interface, offering end-users customisable, visual screens that made accessing necessary functions straightforward.

The implementation of Singlepoint has brought about swift and successful changes at Surface Transforms. Quality engineer Dan Mannion highlighted the ease of use of the system, particularly the Visual Navigator, which he considered a significant advantage. The shop floor has moved towards a virtually paperless environment, improving efficiency and boosting confidence in the company’s systems and processes.

Kerry Wood, the Quality Manager, noted the rapid implementation and the pivotal role Singlepoint played in achieving IATF compliance. Features such as reminder and notification emails, alongside the Training Matrix module, have greatly enhanced operational efficiency and accuracy. Both Kerry and Dan expressed satisfaction with the improvements, especially the system’s ability to automatically flag the need for training updates when documents are revised, ensuring that affected employees are promptly notified.

Surface Transforms has seen a notable shift in operational efficiency and confidence following the introduction of Singlepoint, which has streamlined their processes and supported their commitment to quality.
