Drax continues to prove that purpose and performance go hand in hand. The renewable energy leader has just delivered its most successful charity golf tournament to date, raising an impressive $15,000 in support of MedCamps of Louisiana—a record-breaking achievement that underscores Drax’s commitment to uplifting communities in its operational footprint.
More than 30 teams gathered at Frenchman’s Bend Golf Course in Monroe for Drax’s annual 18-hole charity golf event. The atmosphere was competitive yet playful, with creative charity holes giving players the chance to test their skills and donate through engaging challenges like one-legged tee-offs and frisbee tosses designed to bring golfers closer to the pin. This year’s tournament saw the highest level of participation and contributions yet.
The funds will directly benefit MedCamps of Louisiana, an organisation devoted to improving the quality of life for children with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Through recreational and educational camping experiences, MedCamps offers these young people transformative opportunities to build confidence, friendships and memories in a supportive environment. Caleb Seney, Executive Director of MedCamps, expressed heartfelt gratitude for Drax’s contribution, describing it as a powerful force for hope and healing.
Clay Butler, IT Operations Manager at Drax and the event’s lead organiser, highlighted how the event continues to grow in both impact and enjoyment. Now in its fourth year, the tournament has become a cherished tradition that blends camaraderie with a shared mission to give back.
Drax’s philanthropic commitment spans across Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Alabama, where the company actively invests in local education, skills training, sustainable forestry, and green space enhancement. This latest fundraising milestone is part of a broader strategy to embed social value within its operational ethos.
Matt White, Executive Vice President of North America Operations at Drax, praised the collective effort behind the tournament’s success and reaffirmed the company’s deep ties to the region. For Drax, community support isn’t just a side project—it’s central to how the business operates and grows.
